2017 Lone Star Vineyard Oregon Riesling | Eola-Amity Hills AVA | Oregon
This Oregon Riesling was grown in the picturesque Lone Star Vineyard that was planted in the early 2000’s in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA located in the Northern Willamette Valley. At 140 acres, the vineyard is large and is owned by Argyle Winery. It is a warm site for the region and is planted primarily with Pinot Noir vines.
The Lone Star Vineyard catches early morning sunshine each day and is cooled overnight by the winds of the Van Duzer Corridor. This nightly shift allows for longer hang times to give complexity while achieving optimum ripeness.
The elevation in the Lone Star Vineyard ranges from 200-400 feet. The Oregon Riesling that we harvest grows at around 375 feet and is planted in Jory & Missoula Flood soils.
This Oregon Riesling was crafted to be dry in a Pfalz-German style. It was inspired by the finest Grosses Gewächs from Germany and will age remarkably well. This wine is extremely food-friendly. Bright acidity shines and the mouthfeel is elegant and round. This nearly bone dry Oregon Riesling is approachable now, but will age gracefully for a decade or more.

Vivid aromatics of lime, green apple and citrus on the nose. On the palate the wine is electric. It shows a lovely balance of green apple and lime fruit flavors. A beautiful mouthfeel leads to a long and persistent mineral-driven finish. It is extremely approachable now, but will age gracefully and enhance for decades.
